Keeping Yourself Accountable
The hardest part about working out is often consistently getting to the gym. Keeping yourself accountable is easier when you have a plan.
If you don’t have a set schedule, it makes it difficult to make it to the gym when you’re tired. I have found that the most successful way to achieve your goals and stay consistent, is having your days planned out week by week. Sunday is a great time to get together your weekly goals.
Whether you are working out 3 times a week or 6, write down what you’re doing and where before Monday rolls around. Once you’ve done that, now you have a list of responsibilities you owe yourself. Yes, work on Monday might suck and you might be tired, but you’ve written down your schedule already so you know what needs to be done. When you walk into your workout with a plan, you get things done efficiently and completely. No guess work, just hard work.
We all have bad days from time to time. Days where work was awful or something ruins your mood. Many people have a bad day and say, “Today sucked, I’m not going to the gym”. I think that’s the worst thing you can do. If you’ve had a bad day and nothing is going your way, you can still control your workout. You can do something positive and beneficial even when nothing else is going your way. Don’t let your bad day control one of the few things you have 100% control over. You’ve written down your plan for the week and YOU are going to execute it.
