The Power of Zinc

Zinc is an important essential nutrient for the human body to function in top shape. We do not produce this mineral so we get our daily dose through foods or supplements. Zinc is imperative for many functions in the body such as:

-Immune function

-DNA Synthesis

-Protein Synthesis

-Digestion

-Nerve Function

-And Much More!

Without zinc, your body would not be able to perform these functions to the best of it’s ability (or at all). I personally take a zinc supplement every morning with breakfast. It is important to eat food if you choose to take a zinc supplement because if you take it on an empty stomach, there is a high likelihood it will make you nauseous. The average adult male needs about 11g of zinc a day, while the average female needs about 8g of zinc a day. While pregnant, most women need an average of about 11g. As always, it is important to discuss supplement use with your physician or nutritionist.
