Mushrooms and Your Immune System

Whether you eat mushrooms or add mushroom supplements to your diet, they can prove very beneficial for your health and wellness. Personally, I’ve been adding a mushroom supplement to my morning coffee, which tastes like cocoa powder.

Here are only a few of my favorite mushrooms to help boost your immune system. There are a lot more than these, but these are some of the most common, most beneficial, and why they’re useful.

  • Shiitake:

    -Vitamin B

    -Vitamin D

-Selenium (can help with thyroid hormone metabolism, reproduction, DNA synthesis)

    -Niacin

-Most of the eight essential amino acids

  • Chaga:

    -Zinc

    -Antioxidants

    -Melanin

  • Reishi:

    -Anti-histamine properties

    -Anti-inflammatory properties

-Has been shown in studies to stimulate DNA production within bone marrow (where red and white blood cells are created)

  • Lion’s Mane:

-Promotes Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) production which helps the body maintain homeostasis

    -Can fight against dementia

    -Anti-inflammatory properties

    -Can help generate brain cells

-Can inhibit the production of H. pylori and protect stomach lining
