It’s Not a Sprint. It’s a Process
It’s Not a Sprint. It’s a Process
I’m a big supporter of sprints. They help burn fat, build speed and it’s great trying to record faster times. However, your fitness journey is NOT a sprint and it’s important for us to remind ourselves of that. We all know that those 20 sit ups didn’t give you a six pack (unfortunately). It’s a steady progression of workouts and nutrition choices that give you that sought after six pack.
This holds true with almost anything in the health and wellness world. Your cheat meals around the holidays don’t “make you fat” or make you “out of shape”. Everything you do will contribute to either making you healthier or making you unhealthier. This is why balance is so important. I would be remised if I didn’t let you guys know that I go all out during Thanksgiving, Christmas and on family vacations. I want to enjoy life, good drinks, and good food. However, I make the conscious decision throughout my normal weekdays to watch my sugar intake, make sure I’m drinking enough water and eating the proper things so that I can achieve my goals still.
It may sound discouraging at first when I tell you that you won’t have that dream body after only a few workouts. BUT, you should also be encouraged that you won’t be ruining all your hard work by enjoying a delicious meal with your friends or family. Life is truly about balance.
I find that when I have my workouts planned out, I get way more done. It’s easy to wing it and not be as productive, but when you have a plan or program that you are sticking to, you have to stay accountable. This is one of the key contributors to success. Set your goals, stick to a plan, and enjoy the process. It’s easier than you think and you will reap the benefits of all your hard work!
