The Benefits of Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy is a unique form of therapy that you may have seen your favorite athletes take part in. However, you don't have to be an elite athlete to reap the many benefits it can have.
You may have seen Michael Phelps breaking records in the Olympics while sporting some strange circular marks on his body. Likewise, you might notice some of your favorite athletes looking as if they just fought off a giant octopus. Well, odds are they probably just received cupping therapy (although fighting off a giant octopus does sound pretty cool).
Cupping therapy has been around for a long time, it’s an ancient technique actually. During “static cupping’, cups are placed on the body in certain areas to promote blood flow to and from the designated area. Sometimes one cup is placed on the body and used to massage across multiple areas of the body. This is referred to as “massage cupping”. Both techniques have their benefits depending on what the underlying issue the individual is dealing with.
Cupping has been reported to help treat things such as:
Muscle Tightness
Muscle Soreness
Acne
Inflammation
Arthritis
Migraines
Fibromyalgia
Promote Release of Toxins in Body
Some side effects of cupping are temporary bruising and redness in area worked on.
